I absolutely love Colorado, it’s why I decided to move here and I couldn’t be happier! That being said, there are so many reasons why YOU should elope in Colorado! But for time’s sake, here are my top 5, short and sweet!
If you didn’t know already, Colorado is one of a few states that allows you to self-solemnize, which means you can marry yourselves! There’s no need for an ordained officiant- of course you can still have one if you want. You also have the option to invite a friend or family member to perform the ceremony as well! The best part about eloping in Colorado is that the focus is solely on you and your partner. You get to decide who’s there, where you are, and your plan for the day. You don’t need the officiant, a witness or even a ceremony for that matter! Just you and your partner eloping in beautiful Colorado.
Colorado is such a place, filled with breathtaking views and dreamy locations throughout the state.
I mean have you seen this place?!
Moving out here was one of the best decisions I ever made and I’m so happy to share it with all my couples that decide to elope in Colorado! Whatever the vision you and your partner have for your wedding day, there are plenty of locations to choose from. Whether you’re looking for a desert feel in the Sand Dunes National Park, mountain views in Rocky Mountain National Park, or an intimate location in nature, Colorado has you covered. Between the evergreens, aspens, lakes, mountains and wildflowers, you really can’t go wrong. There is something for everyone… even if you don’t want to go trek far from the parking lot!
People usually visit Colorado for the mountains; they’re incredible and they happen to be everywhere! Even if you’re not the most adventurous or outdoorsy person, you can still breathe in mountain air and soak up the most beautiful views because there are locations that meet everyone’s needs. If you’re looking to elope in Colorado, but prefer minimal to no hiking, there are plenty of spots a few steps from the car. As your elopement photographer, I am passionate about understanding your vision and needs to help you and your partner plan the entire elopement process, which includes locating the dream spot for your Colorado elopement.
When you decide to elope rather than having a traditional wedding, you are given SO much freedom on your wedding day! What do you want to do on your special day? I encourage my couples to think of their favorite activities to do together and then we work together to incorporate those ideas into your Colorado elopement! There are a variety of activities, ranging from hiking to a location for a sunrise ceremony or spending the entire day in a cozy cabin eating cake. Make the most of your wedding day by choosing activities that are perfect for you and your partner.

And my final reason you why should elope in Colorado is simple really.
Elopements can be just as meaningful as traditional weddings. Just because you’re eloping doesn’t mean your wedding is any less meaningful or special. Many couples find that eloping allows them to focus on the things that really matter to them, without the stress and pressure of planning a larger traditional wedding. Your needs matter, so why not plan a day honoring your needs by planning an elopement around what you and your partner want to do! If you’re looking for an intimate experience in nature to focus and celebrate your love with your partner, eloping is the way to go! What better way to celebrate your marriage than being surrounded in an epic location and doing the things/activities you love doing together? I’d say that’s a pretty awesome wedding day, in addition to being one you’ll surely remember and brag about to everyone forever 🙂
